To mark World Maternal Mental Health Day, we're inviting mums across Somerset to get moving,…
Making it my goal
You are the number one priority.
I’ve been so fortunate to work on In It Together for a year and a half now, but that doesn’t mean I’m not constantly striving for continuous improvement, and part of that is gaining your confidence in the project, and for you to have my assurance that you can do it.
I make it my goal when sourcing and speaking to instructors that whatever your age and/or ability, you will be able to participate in an In It Together course. Unless stated otherwise, the courses put on for all abilities to participate in. Every now and again you will see the level of ability indicated in the title, like “Intermediate Tennis” or “Yoga- The Next Level”, and this will usually be for those that have done the first round of the course, and want to continue, but the instructor will find ways of making it more challenging.
Whilst the adverts will do their best to highlight the ability level of the course, I will endeavour to provide more detail on the website when you click the relevant link, providing more information about the level required, but nine times out of ten, if it’s generic in its title ‘Tennis’, ‘Dance Fitness’, ‘Pilates’ for example, this will be a course where the instructor will provide modifications in movements, and that could be slowing them down, repeating the instruction, extra vigilance in your health and movement, added rest breaks, and generally having the awareness of the feel of the room.
I do everything I can to ensure this is covered in initial conversations with instructors, and notice is given of health declarations so they can make preparations for the sessions.
In the event it really isn’t for you, firstly, I will be truly proud and appreciative that you signed up and tried. Secondly, let me know. Between me and the instructor, we can only make changes if you feed it back. We want to make your experience a good one.
Ultimately, I want to get to the point where you don’t and shouldn’t have to ask. You can do this course, you have the ability, no matter where you are in your movement journey. If you ever have any feedback about your course, or any ideas for a course, please email me cnorman@sasp.co.uk
