To mark World Maternal Mental Health Day, we're inviting mums across Somerset to get moving,…

What you can expect from Tennis in Somerton!
Somerton Tennis Club is a lovely club surrounded by a rugby field, a MUGA, bowling club and play area. A hive of activity throughout the year. Yet even with all this surrounding the club, what’s lovely is that with the clubhouse, greenery, and fencing, you are able to learn and play Tennis without being watched or distracted by any passing members of the public. If anything, you’re learning in a place that is family-friendly and supportive which allows you to develop your Tennis in your own time at your own rate and feel no pressure. Whether you are brand new to the sport OR picking it back up again, you are under the wonderful instruction of Neil.
I met Neil, the coach who will be running In It Together’s Tennis session recently and it was such a pleasure. He has Tennis in his blood having a dad who was a Tennis coach and growing up playing with his brother whenever the opportunity arose, and endearingly, they still do now. Neil genuinely wants to know about you, and from the moment you meet him you get an instant feeling he has your best interests at heart and wants to make Tennis completely accessible for you, for every body; beginner or otherwise.
After a successful Tennis course back in May, we wanted to bring it back again! And here are a couple of testimonials from the ladies who signed up to the first tranche;
“I have really enjoyed signing up for the Tennis at Somerton Tennis Club. A warm welcome, like minded women all wanting to improve & have fun doing so. Neil our coach encouraged us & in his enjoyable manner was able to see each of us individually & bring out the best of us all.”
“As Neil would say if you fancy trying it Be Bold you will enjoy it”
“I loved the In It Together course at Somerton Tennis Club and since the course finished I’ve continued going to Neil’s coaching session.”
“I’d never played much tennis before but the course proved to be a very good opportunity to learn some basic skills in a very friendly non-threatening environment. Neil is a lovely man and a very patient, thoughtful coach. The course was very well organised and the whole experience was really good fun.”
“I thought about it long and hard before I signed up for the course but I’m so glad I took the plunge. Thank you for making it available.”
If you’re concerned you can’t attend because of childcare, your children are welcome! There’s a small court attached to the main courts, where they can stay in your view, or there’s even the clubhouse which is directly attached to the Tennis courts as well.
There are changing facilities and toilets nearby, and ample spaces for free parking.
The weather will still be balmy in September, so your session shouldn’t be scuppered by wet or cold weather! I even heard there’s possibly a bit of coffee and cake at the end of a session too….but you didn’t hear that from me!
